Our Community Projects
Annual Turkey Drive
The Neighbor’s Cupboard is one of our sponsored organizations. In November, our Club organizes a Turkey Drive in three locations collecting turkeys, non-perishable foods, and money all of which are donated to our local food pantry.
Community Plantings
Every spring our Club purchases and plants annual flowers throughout the town of Winterport. We design, plant, and maintain the gardens at the library, Abbott Park, Freshies, and under the town message board. We also plant and maintain annual flower containers at the cemetery, library, Union Meeting House, and in our large Winterport Woman’s Club stone planter.
Domestic Violence Awareness
Our Club sponsors New Hope Midcoast*, an agency that provides support services to victims of domestic abuse in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo counties. We have helped two women who were relocated to Winterport with household goods and furniture. We also organized a yard sale in 2025 as part of GFWC National Day of Service with all the proceeds going to this organization. We also donate gently used clothing to their Rockland location for their annual fundraising sale.
